The Best Companies to Be an Intern At
Tech giant Salesforce is the best company to get your business apprenticeship, according to the current crop of US interns. Glassdoor reviews show that 99% of Salesforce’s interns would recommend this as the place to learn the ropes of the corporate world.
“Fantastic place to develop,” reads one Glassdoor review. “I’m given valuable work and am treated like an employee, not a dog’s body!”
The Worst Company to Intern At
A very different story is coming out of Aflac, the US insurance giant. The firm takes in hundreds of interns annually, but over half leave it unhappy.
And they certainly wouldn’t recommend it to their friends. The Resume.io study revealed that only 43% of people who intern at Aflac would tell their ambitious friends to do the same.
“I learned nothing and felt like I was just there for free labor,” reads one review.
Best Tech Companies for Interns
Adobe, eBay, PayPal, and Google all scored highly, with over 9 out of 10 interns recommending them to their friends or college buddies.
Many of these Glassdoor reviews spoke about rewarding work and learning opportunities. However, the corporate culture and perks were another big plus point for interns.
“Employee welfare is real at Google,” said one reviewer. “There’s free mental health support, reimbursement for gym memberships, chef-prepared lunches, and a genuine commitment to diversity and inclusion. I loved every minute there.”
Best Finance Company to Intern At
US finance companies are doing a great job of supporting and fostering the potential of their interns. Several major players in the US finance space feature in the study, scoring well over 90% when it comes to intern satisfaction.
Of these, insurance company Nationwide came out on top. Nearly all its interns (97.20%) wouldn’t hesitate to tell their friends to accept an internship at the firm.
Retail Internships
The retail industry is an excellent training ground for aspiring business leaders. It’s an industry where you can learn how companies operate and keep up with the ever-changing demands of customers.
According to this study, the best place to go is Garmin, the US tech/retail company responsible for the latest smartwatches and fitness trackers.
With the vast majority (96.84%) of its interns happy to recommend the firm to others, it outshines a long list of more established retail giants, including Nike and Procter & Gamble.
Where to Go for a Medical Internship
You’ll find many happy interns at Genentech. That’s because 98.50% of interns at the American biotechnology corporation would feel super confident recommending it to a pal or buddy.
“I couldn’t think of a better place to be,” read one review. “You work directly alongside some of the smartest people in the world and support projects that will make a real difference. You’re always pushed and encouraged to develop. This is heaven for ambitious interns.”
