Cosmetic and aesthetic treatments and procedures have enjoyed an enormous boost in popularity over the past few years. Recent developments and techniques have meant these procedures are more accessible and affordable for the everyday person.

There are a wide variety of different cosmetic procedures available today, with new treatments being developed all the time. We’ve put together a list with four of the most popular treatments. Keep reading to check it out.

Botox Injections

Botox is a drug made from the botulinum toxin. While it can be used for medical procedures such as neck or bladder issues, it also is widely used as a cosmetic treatment. Botox treatment can reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines on the face by targeting and relaxing the muscles that cause them.

Botox is becoming increasingly popular, and we’re even seeing medical practitioners move into the field through the rise in botox courses for doctors.

Dermal Fillers

Dermal fillers are used to fill out areas of the face, reducing lines and wrinkles and add volume to areas like the lips and cheeks. Dermal fillers are usually made from a chemical called hyaluronic acid, which is injected into the target sites using a thin needle.

The procedure normally takes around 30 minutes, with the effects expected to last between six and 18 months.

Micropigmentation

Micropigmentation, also known as permanent makeup, is a procedure designed to create a long-lasting makeup effect, commonly used for lipliner, eyeliner, or eyebrow augmentation.

The process involves the use of a needle to insert pigment granules in the target areas. The pigment is usually made from iron oxide, which is a hypoallergenic compound that can prevent excessive bleeding.

The entire process can take several hours, and there will be a few days of recovery time required afterwards where you might feel itchy or uncomfortable. The effects of micropigmentation can seem very strong initially, but this will settle over the course of a few weeks and begin to look a lot more natural.

Laser Hair Removal

Laser hair removal is the process of removing unwanted hair from the body through the use of a laser or intense pulsed light

It is usually used to remove hair from the face, legs, chest, and bikini line. However, it is not permanent, and repeat sessions will be required to prevent hair from regrowing.

During a laser hair removal session, goggles will need to be worn to protect the eyes from harmful light. The procedure shouldn’t be painful but can sometimes feel strange or uncomfortable, with some patients reporting that it feels like an elastic band being flicked off of their skin.

The treated area may be red or tender up to a few days afterwards, with some patients reporting a rash. Ice packs can be applied to reduce redness and swelling, while affected skin should be kept out of the sun for several weeks after the treatment.

Conclusion

Cosmetic procedures aren’t just for celebrities and pop starts anymore. They are now accessible and affordable for everyday people, with more and more of us choosing to boost our looks through aesthetic means.
