Companies must prioritise learning and development training and employee engagement in order to retain top talent in the next year.

Quadmark, a worldwide creative training and learning consultancy, used its vast skills and experience to analyse the yearly learning and development trends of 2022 in order to forecast what will happen in 2023.

According to their research, about 70% of UK professionals planned to change jobs in 2022. The findings highlight the need to invest in employee learning and development to retain top talent and drive company success. Companies that provide opportunities for employees to learn and grow are more likely to attract and keep skilled people, resulting in increased market productivity, output, and competitiveness in 2023.

Bitesize online courses, on-the-job training, and mentorship programmes were the most popular learning and development techniques among UK workers. Companies that offer a range of these learning opportunities in 2023 will be well-positioned to meet their workers’ needs across the course of their employment.

Favouring employee engagement has also been demonstrated to be important in retaining employees. Incorporating emerging AI and AR technologies in training may help organisations create appealing onboarding experiences for remote workers, such as a virtual tour of the company headquarters, as well as bring crucial workplace training to life.

“It’s clear that UK workers are looking for ways to advance their careers and improve their skills. Work is increasingly performed across functional boundaries, with job roles becoming more variable – meaning more diverse skills are required. Smart companies will take note and invest in their employees’ learning and development for the new year,” said Helen Earl, Quadmark CEO

Digital Learning Trends of 2023

Culture

Since it sets the tone for how people are regarded and appreciated inside a business, culture is an essential learning trend that leads to employee happiness. Employee work satisfaction and motivation may be boosted by fostering a healthy corporate culture that emphasises employee well-being and progress.

Artificial Intelligence

AI systems may analyse a learner’s performance and progress data, identify areas of strength and weakness, and provide an adaptive learning path that is tailored to the learner’s needs. This strategy ensures that students do not waste time on topics they are already familiar with, while also providing extra support in areas where it is needed.

AI may also act as a virtual coach, providing learners with personalised guidance and support throughout their learning journey. Virtual coaches can give customised advice and help in real-time based on the learner’s behaviour, progress, and performance statistics.

Encouragement

Encouragement motivates students by recognising their efforts and successes. If learners think their efforts are recognised and acknowledged, they are more likely to remain interested and motivated throughout the training programme.

By providing positive feedback and reinforcement, encouragement may enhance learners’ self-esteem. When learners get constant encouragement and positive feedback, they are more likely to believe in themselves and their abilities to gain and apply new skills.

Virtual Reality

VR may boost engagement and make the learning experience more exciting and memorable by immersing learners in realistic and interactive environments. This can help learners understand and remember the content being taught.

VR can facilitate remote learning by allowing learners to experience virtual worlds from anywhere with an internet connection. This can enable students who cannot attend traditional in-person programmes to access education and training.

Hybrid Learning

Hybrid learning is more adaptable than traditional learning methods, allowing students to balance their study time with other responsibilities. Learners can choose to attend in-person seminars on certain days while completing online modules on others, providing them with a more flexible schedule.
