Running your own business is a massive commitment and something that will take the majority of people’s time, so if you have recently got engaged and are now having to plan your own wedding on top of your business it will seem like a massive task, but try not to let it get you stressed. The main thing to remember is to go at our own pace with your wedding planning, as you don’t want it to become overwhelming and you lose interest in it. Planning a wedding, despite being stressful, is one of the most exciting things that you will have to do, so enjoy every aspect of it.
Don’t overdo it
Making sure that you don’t overdo it is really important when you are planning your wedding. You need to make sure that you don’t let it become a burden and just enjoy it. Take your time to look into options and don’t rush things. One thing that a lot of people do when they are faced with the prospect of planning their wedding is to try to rush everything, but just take your time and make sure that what you plan is what you really want to do. Running a business takes a lot of time and effort, so make sure that you only focus on your wedding planning when you are relaxed and away from work.
Consider hiring a wedding planner
Depending on what your business is, and how intense things are, you may want to consider hiring a wedding planner. Hiring someone to help you plan your day doesn’t mean that you will lose control and won’t have any say in the details. It just means that there will be someone on hand to take care of all the stressful aspects, and allow you to focus on running your business, but still having an input into the wedding planning process.
There are lots of different options when it comes to hiring a wedding planner, and what you choose to go for will depend entirely on your budget. The main thing to remember is that you don’t need to give all the responsibility to someone else; it will just share the load. Also a wedding planner will have a lot of experience of doing this, so will know the things to look out for, or may be able to recommend things that you hadn’t considered before.
Don’t let your business take a back seat
If you’ve worked hard for years to build up your own business, try to make sure that the wedding planning doesn’t take over, and take priority over your business. Give yourself plenty of time to plan your special day as well. You might want to consider choosing a date that’s a year away at least, so that you will have plenty of time to get the important things organised, without feeling that you are rushing. By planning ahead it will give you time to do things such as attend wedding fairs, research venues and suppliers, and also as many venues and suppliers are currently booked up into 2022 and beyond due to the pandemic, it will mean that you have more of a chance of booking your favourite suppliers.
Learn to take breaks
If you are feeling overwhelmed with your wedding planning or perhaps your business is going through a difficult or busy time and you don’t have as much time to spend on your wedding as you would like, then make time to take breaks. It’s important to focus on yourself as you don’t want to get stressed and overwhelmed with it all.
Make it fun by planning your honeymoon
Wedding planning doesn’t always need to be about the actual wedding, you could hire a wedding planner to take control of this aspect, and then spend your time focusing on your honeymoon! There are lots of choices for honeymoons, either somewhere within the UK or abroad depending on your budget. Make sure that you put aside enough budget within your wedding planning to cover your honeymoon as well.
