If you want to learn a new language and don’t know how to get started, Language Trainers has some tips for you! Though many would tell you to memorize grammar rules and long lists of words, they recommend focusing on the four major linguistic skills: reading, writing, speaking and listening.

There are many activities that you can carry out in your daily life and that can boost these language abilities incredibly if you are constant.

Practicing consistently is essential, yet time-consuming, but the effort always pays off! And the best part is that no skill is developed in isolation in real life so, as you practice one, you will be improving another one. For example, if you get a pen pal, not only will you be improving your writing skills, but also your reading when you get a response.

To help you get started, check out all the ideas that Language Trainers has outlined in this infographic. You can start doing the first ones, and once you notice you have them under control, you can move on to the following ones. Once you can do the last ones, you will know that you have reached a conversational level in your target language!
