I have a dream. ~ Martin Luther King
While your dreams, and mine, may not have as strong of an impact, or change the world, as Martin Luther King’s did – we all have them. We all have dreams of where we would like to be or who we would like to be. At the beginning of the year many of us made New Year’s resolutions in the hopes that by the end of the year we would be better versions of ourselves yet many of us – including myself – fail to realize our goals and dreams.
Why is that?
It probably comes down to a lack of action on our part. We fail to turn our dreams into action plans that we can tackle bit by bit, day after day. I know I am guilty of putting things off until tomorrow, and eventually that tomorrow never happens.
I am always looking for ways to improve and better myself. Even if it is a bit at a time – those little bits add up an make a difference. I want to achieve my dreams and learn how and what I need to do to attain them.
I finished reading Dream by Marcia Wieder and I feel pumped and ready to make my dreams a reality. Dream has shown me that I have to put my fears and doubts aside and live on purpose.
Marcia goes through what she calls the “Dream Formula” which is her approach to make any dream come true. The steps are:
- Clarify Your Dreams.
- Believe in Your Dreams.
- Act in Your Dreams.
All three of these steps are essential for achieving success. Based on the Dream Formula above, the book is broken down into three sections, to facilitate working on each of the steps mentioned above.
Part one of the book focuses on getting the dreams out of your head and learning to clarify them.
Part two of the book focuses on learning where you are right now in relationship to your dreams. This is important as many people, including myself, don’t believe in our dreams or we start doubting ourselves and listening to that little voice that tells us that we can’t do it. Marcia shows you how to deal with the doubting side and focus on the dreaming side.
Part three of the book shows you how you can turn dreams into action.
It is a wonderfully inspirational read and I know I will be referring back to this book often. Marcia calls herself a Dream Coach and this book is definitely a great guide.
