I can’t believe that it is already December. As I get older it seems like the years fly by faster and faster. December is often a busy month for everyone, between holiday parties, shopping, entertaining and other work related madness -such as year end for some, it is easy to overlook our social media efforts and planning for 2015.
Now is the perfect time to take a look back and see how your social media efforts paid off…or didn’t… and start planning for 2015.
My challenge for you (and myself) in 2015 is to engage more in social media.
A lot of people and businesses overlook the “social” part of social media. They post blogs or content about themselves and sit back and wait for people to show up, and are often disappointed when they don’t. Social media is more than posting about yourself… it is reaching out and connecting and engaging with others. The goal of social media should not be to accumulate likes, +1’s or followers. How easy is it for someone to just click a button and then walk away, never to be heard from again?
The goal of social media should be networking and to building relationships. It is through these relationships that everyone benefits and grows together. Social media is not about ‘me’, it is about ‘we’.
So let’s start off 2015 with a bang and reach out and make new friends!

Hi Chantal
Thanks so much for this insightful post. I couldn’t agree more with your view that a successful social media presence is about the engagement and conversations it creates.
I look forward to commenting, tweeting, emailing and engaging more with you over the next year.
Kind Regards

PS I noticed a little bug in your wordpress site that may be reducing the number of comments you receive. If you want to shoot me an email (pethick at bigpond.net.au) I’ll give you details offline.
